Outsmart Winter in These Stylish, Animal-Friendly Jackets
Sometimes, finding the perfect vegan jacket can be a tad frustrating. For me, it was when a pushy REI salesperson insisted I needed down no matter how many times I explained I wasn't "down" with down. Being inundated with images of Canada Goose on television doesn't help, either. Never fear, we've got you! The following jackets are warm, fashionable, and (of course) 100% vegan.
Save The Duck
Save The Duck is AMAZING and all of their clothes are animal-free. We've personally tried their jackets in both Seattle and (the much colder) Saint Louis and stayed warm as a bug in a rug. Plus, if you don't want to shell out a bunch of $$, these jackets make frequent appearances on Nordstrom's Rack and Amazon.
Though not all their attire is vegan-friendly, you can find Helly Hanson gems by checking the materials. One example (pictured below) is their award-winning Elevation Shell 2.0 Jacket, which caters to hard-core downhill skiing and snowboarding. The W Blume Puffy Parka is another excellent option, described on their site as "a stylish and feminine parka" to keep you "dry and comfortable when exploring the urban outdoors." What more can we ask for?
All of Wuxly's Movement's gorgeous clothing are completely vegan, so you can shop free of fear. They even offer an incredible "trade-up" program, where shoppers can trade jackets containing fur or down for credit that goes towards a parka. They vary in weight, with some offering protections in temperatures far into the negatives.
The North Face
Did you know The North Face won an award from PETA for creating an innovative down-free technology? For its Thermoball Eco Collection, The North Face takes plastic bottles and recycles them into fibers and fabrics, so you can go that extra mile for the environment. Plus, the jackets are adorable, lightweight, and cozy.
Hoodlamb says they believe that hemp is "the key to creating truly sustainable fashion for the future." All of their products are vegan, sustainable, comfortable, and durable. Plus, they have a variety of styles to keep fashionistas happy!
Free People has some hip, stylish, vegan-friendly options that will keep you looking cool as you roam the city streets this winter. The Sherpa Trucker Jacket (pictured below) is 100% polyester and has both double bust and hip pockets.
Yep, the giant furry bear of a jacket pictured below is completely vegan! Spirit Hoods says their jackets are "100% acrylic with hints of magic," and that 10% of their net profits are donated to help endangered species.
Though there are many more incredible vegan jackets out on the market, these should get you started. Subscribe to island for information on the latest and greatest vegan products, news, and more.
